Pastor Richard C. Klueg

Down to Earth

John 1:1-3, 14, 18

What does it mean that Christ “came down”?

He Created—John 1:1-3
“Who made God?

In the beginning was the Word

The highest intelligence

The source of everything

The Trinity

He Communicated—John 1:18
No one has ever seen God

He has made him known

He Came Down—John 1:14

Think of what the Son of God gave up

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Sermon outline for Sunday, December 11, 2016

Pastor Richard C. Klueg

Things to Come

Jeremiah 3:14-17

The future: Utopian or Dystopian? Or both?

Return, of faithless children and look for:

A New and Better Leadership
I will give you shepherds after my own heart

God’s promise to King David

What is God’s “heart” for His people?

  • God loves His people
  • God cares for His people
  • God sacrifices for His people

A New and Living Way

They shall no more say “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.”

Hebrews 10:19-29

Who needs the ark of the covenant when you have Jesus?!

  • Come directly to Him for salvation
  • Come directly to Him for daily strength and grace

A New and Improved People

God’s people will become international

God’s people will become godly

“Already and not yet”

For the people of God, there are great things to come!

Matthew 1:1-17

History’s close calls
A genealogy?

1. Promise to an Old Man

Genesis 12:1-2: A land, a nation of people, a worldwide blessing

Isaac: “He laughs”

2. Promise to an Uneasy King
David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah

Would David’s dynasty end?

Psalm 51:11 Cast me not away from your presence …

2 Samuel 7:12-15

3. Promise to a Devastated Nation
the deportation to Babylon

No kings

Where is he who is born king of the Jews?

If we are faithless, he remains faithful - for he cannot deny himself.
2 Timothy 2:13

Not a Clue

Jeremiah 2:35

Hey, it’s December. Where’s my Christmas message?
One issue in which it is fatal to be clueless.

Clueless About Oneself

I am innocent

“God knows my heart!”

Were they really that bad? Are we?

“Know thyself”

Clueless About Judgment

Surely his anger has turned from me.

Some remedial instruction on Jesus and judging

· “Judge not”

· Commands to judge

· Jesus as the Judge

I will bring you into judgment for saying “I have not sinned.”

The most difficult words to say

Glacier 511

Clueless About Salvation

Matthew 9:13 ...For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
